woyww- playing with flowers

Playing around with watercolours no project in mind just having some creative play time.  Once all the flowers and background dry then I will over draw with a fine black pen and add some black and white highlights.

Also started a few gardening projects just repotting a few plants.  But, it started to rain and now that is on hold.   Just like the top project.


The final pic is of the orchid (it has a another name but can't think of it) it has been growing in a pot for 16 years.  It was in flower when I got it as a gift and it has taken 15 years to flower again!!! There are still 3 or 4 branches on the plant.  They should open over the next couple of weeks.  I loved the foliage so it never bothered me that it didn't flower!  Now I can see it was always worth keeping.  A little like the teenagers ... you just keep feeding, watering and talking to them and eventually they will bloom.

Off to travel the cyber globe and see what other woyww's have been creating.

    Did you draw those flowers? That's a really awesome job. I am impressed. As for your plant, it is gorgeous. I've never seen anything like it before. And if your kids just listen and follow by example, they are going to turn into super adults!

    Thank you again for my lovely gifts. You are too, too kind. That postage was an arm and a leg. I couldn't believe what it cost to send it.

    My mum does flowers and is a founder member of a flower society. Me, well, sometimes I play with them, but they aren't so forgiving as playing with paper! Your project looks great, I keep wanting to paint flowers too. Happy WOYWW

    My mums friend had one hers flowered last year first time in 12yrs.So must be something to do with that plant!

    Your orchid is a lovely colour... it is such a shame they take so long to flower... I see lots of them in the garden center over here in Portugal and they are all in flower!! And so many colours
    Take lots of pictures just in case you have to wait another 16 years !! but I do hope it flowers every year from now on

    Creative without a particular purpose is a good thing I think - like a recharge - and to have it turn out as nicely as that - well, gifted I say. The orchid is sensational, that's certainly payback for 15 years of nurturing, huh!

    Sometimes it is nice to just potter without an end in mind. I finally got my garden all sorted for winter - took out the dead and dying and composted it and cleaned the little fellas toys and put them in the shed so they survive for another year. Just need to prune back the rose and honeysuckle and strimmer the lawn one last time and I'll be done. Of course I am sitting inside hopping across blogs on beautiful sunny day when I could be in the garden finishing off....... The orchid was definitely worth the 15 year wait it is magnificent (I'd be as proud as a parent of a well turned out teenager!)

    15 years wow - I have an Easter plant that always flowers well every year much to everyones delight as I am so not green fingered! Will remember the advice about teenagers - have not got those yet but will keep nurturing my 10 and 7 year olds in the hope!

    Nice comparison to teenagers! But I guess any person, if you take care of them, even if they seem not to care, will eventually bloom! Even our art- sometimes it can be frustrating, but you keep at it- then wow! something inspired and magical happens! Patsy from

    Love your desk project... I too occasionally paint flowers then draw over with a fine line waterproof pen. It works so well.

    Gardening has definitely been on hold this week. I have a hundred and one jobs waiting to be done but I'm not going out in the rain!!!
    Your Orchid is stunning, I laughed at your analogy, will have to remember that one.

    I have never managed to keep any orchid from one year to the next. Yours is wonderful Having looked at all the advice you had been given, I might find the courage to try again. I love that paper you have created. I am sure it will figure in some project in the near future, if you can bear to cut into it.
